ABOUT OUR CONGREGATION

We are the church of Christ in Marion, Iowa — a community of Christians dedicated to true Christianity drawn purely from the teaching of the New Testament scriptures.  This congregation has met at this location for nearly 50 years. 

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and Hope for the world. It is our passion to spread His Gospel to all in our community. We believe that God has revealed His mind and will through the New Testament writings and that by following the instructions, commandments, and examples of His Word, we can be pleasing in God’s sight. We are “not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes!” (Romans 1:16)

The followers of Christ were called Christians, being those who prescribe to the teachings of Christ and bear only His name.   We at the church of Christ in Marion bear only His name, and prescribe only to His teachings.  To many in the religious world, our practice is referred to as "non-denominational", however, we prefer to refer to ourselves as simply Christians; we are disciples of Jesus Christ, and by virtue of the gift of God in Christ Jesus, allowed to be called children of the Most High God.   We are fellow brothers and sisters in the household of God.   When you visit, you will hear us refer to one another as brother and sister, for the New Testament clearly shows that as Christians, we become children of God.
